Ohio isn’t known as a state that experiences devastating earthquakes, but the state’s earthquake insurers want residents to know that they do occur and property damage can happen, especially since tremors have become more common in Ohio.

Last year, Ohio sustained 18 tremors, which was twice as many as 2010 and four-and-a-half times the number recorded in 2009, according to the Ohio Department of Natural Resources Division of Geological Survey Ohio Seismic Network.
